The task of the project was the rearrangement and renovation of the living space of an apartment. The main request of the client was the isolation of the kitchen from the rest of the space, mainly regarding the issue of noise and odors. The living space was rearranged by dividing an originally larger unit into two smaller units. The goal of the proposal was the creation of a flexible structure that adjusts to the needs of the residents. Another parameter that was taken under consideration during design was some elements (the fireplace, the piano and the dining table) which were demanded by the client to be kept and reused in the renovated living space.Dealing with these parameters, the architectural study proposes the creation of a dominant element, a wall-furniture that separates the kitchen from the rest of the space, but at the same time is characterized by its \u201cporosity\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This element is made of oak and includes cabinets – storage spaces, as well as shelves that close with glass panels and allow the visual communication of the kitchen with the seating area. The kitchen table is integrated into the wall-furniture. When having a meal, the residents have the option to be isolated from the seating area by closing the expandable oak panels. The wall that separates the kitchen from the dining room is also made of glass in order to allow the light to enter the space. The seating area stands as a warm corner of relaxation with the fireplace as the central focus. For additional storage space, in continuation of the fireplace cupboards are created which are adjusted to the existing materiality of the fireplace. The synthesis is completed by oak shelves on the wall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
